Nearly 1,200 Grains Brains and Guests Gathered at the Annual Meeting in Savannah, GA!
The 2010 AACC International Annual Meeting was a great success, with nearly 1,200 attendees and guests from 37 countries, 74 universities, and 328 companies worldwide. Members and meeting attendees noted that this year's technical program
was the best in the association's history. Innovative and interactive new session formats, more than 130 of the industry�s top suppliers, and increased attendance at many of the division meetings and socials helped energize attendees throughout the week and culminated in one of the most successful AACC
Intl. Annual Meetings in recent memory. See the

AACC International Welcomes Its New Leadership for
2010�2011
Managing the work of our association and ensuring its mission is
advanced requires a team effort. AACC Intl., an association run by the
members for the members, is pleased to announce our newly installed board of directors:
Barry McCleary, president; Debi Rogers, president-elect;
Khalil Khan, chair of the board; Laura Hansen, treasurer; Art Bettge,
Rodney Ian Booth, Gerard Downey, Lydia Tooker Midness,
and Craig Morris, directors.
Barbara Heidolph Named
2010 Geddes Awardee
This year, Barbara Heidolph with ICL Performance Products LP, was honored with
the 2010 William F. Geddes Memorial Award. Heidolph, a member of AACC Intl. for more than
20 years, received the award in recognition of her continued contributions to the association.
Results of the Best Student Research Paper Competition
Six finalists of the Professional Development Panel�s Best Student Research Paper Competition presented their papers at the 2010 Annual Meeting. Winning first place was George Ondier, University of Arkansas. Jung Sun Hong, University of Idaho, won second place and third place went to Reetta Kivel�, University of Helsinki. Other finalists included Ieva Alaunyte, Manchester Metropolitan University; Nisha Aravind, University of New England; and Hongxin Jiang, Iowa State University.

To meet your particular needs in a more specialized format, AACC
Intl. recently created
Interest Groups, allowing members to collaborate and network with members in a particular area.
The Food Safety, Gluten Free, and Mapping Quality of Small Grains
Interest Groups recently met at the annual meeting, and new groups will

the �U.S. Regulatory Summit� to be held February 3, 2011, in Washington, DC, U.S.A., as well as �Technology of Batters and Breadings� and �Chemical Leaving,�

Students Display Impressive Product Development Skills at 2010 Competition
The winning team for this year�s
Student
Product Development Competition impressed the judges with their
grain-based tea. Team Granot�'s Sorghum Tisane Pineapple Orange from Kansas State University took home first place. The BETA Fruit Bar, from the University of Manitoba, took second place, with third place going to � bloc, from the University of Arkansas. Iowa State University�s Prozea Chewing Gum and Cornell University�s Tamarangle's also competed.

Travel Grants Awarded to 79 Student Members
In 2010, 79 students received travel grants through the Manhattan Section to attend the 2010 AACC Intl. Annual Meeting. Student awardees represent
33 universities from 12 countries.

Third Cereals&Europe
Spring Meeting 2011
The AACC Intl.
Cereals&Europe Section is holding their
3rd International Spring Meeting 2011, April 11�13, 2011, at the
Technical University of Munich in Germany. The conference will focus on
technological and sensory aspects of cereals and cereal products. Texture,
flavor, and taste are the most important attributes of cereal products
determining their quality and thus, consumer acceptance. This conference is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with experts from all over the world and build trustful relationships across borders and nationalities in Europe. Online registration

Northwest Section
Hands-On Event: A Culinary Approach to Sodium Reduction
Register online by December 1 to explore a culinary approach to sodium
reduction. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on December 2,
2010, at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus.
C&E Section Announces
the Tenth EYCSTW
The tenth European Young Cereal Scientists and Technologists Workshop will
be held May 23�25, 2011, in Helsinki, Finland. We would like to let you know that attendance to this workshop is limited to students or young professionals working in cereal area and to just a few senior cereal scientists. Industrial participation is also limited to representatives of sponsoring companies.
