Make Plans for the 2012 Best Student Research Paper Competition
Six students advanced to the final round of competition at the 2011 AACC International Annual Meeting for the Professional Development Panel’s Best Student Research Paper Competition. Winning first place was Leonnard Ojwang, Texas A&M University. Congratulations to all the contestants, the results are posted online. The PDP is now encouraging nominations for the 2012 Best Student Research Paper Competition. Academic departments may submit one nominee; the top six submission will compete for recognition and cash prizes. Competition details and deadlines are available online.

AACC Intl. student members had the chance to compete in the Student Product Development Competition at the annual meeting in Palm Springs, California. This year, first place was awarded to Team Crunchums (Marc Bianchi, Ashley Pruett, and Elyse Buckley) from Kansas State University. Congratulations to all the teams who participated. Call for Bruce Wasserman Young Investigator Award Nominations
The Bruce Wasserman Young Investigator Award, given by the Biotechnology Division, recognizes outstanding research, which may be basic or applied, and should be broadly relevant to cereal production and utilization. Nominees must be no older than 40 years of age by the nomination date. The awardee will receive an honorarium and will present an award lecture during the 2012 AACC Intl. Annual Meeting. Nominations are due January 1, 2012.
