AACC Intl. Comments on Proposed Definition of Dietary Fiber   
The AACC Intl. Technical Committee on Dietary Fiber and Other Carbohydrates recently submitted comments to the Nutrition Evaluation Division of Health Canada regarding the proposed definition of dietary fiber. The committee commended Health Canada for seeking to harmonize the definition of dietary fiber. Specifically, the committee noted that the constituent make up of dietary fiber as initially outlined by AACC Intl. is aligned with the definition in the CODEX Alimentarius and the definition proposed by Health Canada.

Working on Whole Grains? Connect with the Whole Grains Working Group
The Whole Grains Working Group (WGWG) is discussing potential standards and definitions surrounding whole grains. Subgroups for corn, oats and barley, rice, and wheat have already formed to discuss items specific to each grain. The WGWG is seeking members interested in working on an Other Grains Subgroup to review data on sorghum, millet, buckwheat, small grains, and pseudo grains. Contact for details.

Third Intl. Spring Meeting 2011: Early Registration Deadline Approaching
Join us at the 3rd International Spring Meeting 2011, April 11�13, 2011, at the University of Munich in Germany organized by DFA of the Technical University of Munich and the AACC Intl. Cereals&Europe Section. The conference is entitled "Texture, Flavour, and Taste�Key Consumer Drivers to Healthy and High-Quality Cereal Products." The program will be announced shortly. The early registration deadline is February 19, 2011.

C&E Section Announces the Tenth EYCSTW 
The tenth European Young Cereal Scientists and Technologists Workshop (EYCSTW) will be held May 23�25, 2011, in Helsinki, Finland. Registration and submission of abstracts are now open and more detailed information can be found on the C&E website.

2011 Milling & Baking Division Spring Technical Conference
Mark your calendar and plan to attend the 2011 Milling & Baking Division Spring Technical Conference, May 18�20, 2011, Bloomington, MN, U.S.A. Where's Bloomington? Bloomington is about 20 minutes southeast of Minneapolis and is home to the world-famous Mall of America and Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. This year's conference theme is Field to Mill to Oven�Meeting the World�s Food Demands. Registration and housing materials will be posted by February 18.

Foundation 

Students�Earn Money for School
The AACC Intl. Foundation is accepting applications through March 1 for undergraduate and graduate scholarships to be awarded for the 2011�2012 school year. Applicants must be current AACC Intl. student members to qualify. Visit AACCnet for more information.

Apply Now for Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award
Established in 2009, the AACC Intl. Foundation Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award will be presented to an individual establishing a career in grain science and technology to facilitate their involvement in the annual meeting. This award is for AACC Intl. members who have been in their career eight years or less. This award includes a travel grant to the annual meeting, meeting registration, one year of AACC Intl. division membership, and more. Applications/nominations are due March 1, 2011.
