New Book Matches Stored-Product Insects with
Crop Commodities They Impact

St. Paul, MN (August 31, 2009)—Stored-Product Insect Resource provides the most multifaceted, comprehensive guide to information on 1,663 insect species associated with stored products, such as wheat, corn, and rice. This new book covers 1,105 commodities and more than 9,200 different insect-commodity associations.

Information on 468 species of natural enemies provides a fuller understanding of the potential for biological control of stored-product insects. Commodities that are likely to be infested are listed for each insect species and information on suitability of some commodities as food is also reviewed. This book includes a catalog that can help locate pictures and keys to identify stored-product insects.

Authors David Hagstrum and Bhadriraju Subramanyam each have more than 30 years of research experience and have taught stored-product entomology. This is their fourth book on stored-product insects and will be a useful supplement to their textbook Fundamentals of Stored-Product Entomology.

Stored-Product Insect Resource includes the following chapters: Species List, Species by Family, Species by Key, Species by Commodity, Species by Rank, Species by Common Name, Commodities by Scientific or Common Name, References Cited, Preparing Insects for Identification, Books and Book Chapters, and Alphabetical List of Species Names.
