Abstract

The process of rice milling is probably nearly as old as agriculture itself, but mechanized rice milling traces its roots back to the invention of an abrasive type of bran removal equipment, invented by Douglas and Grant around 1860. Since then, rice milling has evolved into a complicated industrial process that employs sophisticated technologies for controlling the operation.
